When you think of countries that pay the highest pharmacist salaries in the world, you can probably guess which nation tops the list (hint: think “stars and stripes”). Although the top spot might not be a surprise, it’s still interesting to see how pharmacist salaries compare in other parts of the world.
A new list created by InsiderMonkey.com sheds some light on this topic. Using information from various sources, the website put together a list of the 9 Highest Paying Countries for Pharmacists.
Keep in Mind: Comparing Pharmacist Salaries by Country is Not Easy
Of course, most lists like these don’t take into consideration the cost of living in each country. For example, the list shows the average pharmacist in South Africa makes less than half of what the average pharmacist in Canada earns.
However, the price of rent in Canada is 95% higher than in South Africa, and Canadians pay 108% more for groceries when compared to South Africans (Source: Numbeo). So looking at raw salary numbers in isolation doesn’t tell you the whole story.
Still, the list does provides some interesting information. Of note, Canada ranks second on the list with an average pharmacist salary of $80,000 to $95,000 per year. (The list is in US dollars.)
